EyeMed’s Milestones

1988    

EyeMed begins administering vision care programs under the name LensCrafters Vision Care Management Systems.

1995

Luxottica purchases LensCrafters, who has experience with thousands of independent provider customers, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to EyeMed.

1999

EyeMed expands to include independent ophthalmologists, optometrists and opticians.

2001

EyeMed purchases First American Health Concepts (Eye Care Plan of America).

2004

EyeMed integrates with Cole Managed Vision as part of Luxottica Group’s acquisition of Cleveland-based Cole National. Members have access to more of the nation’s leading optical retailers, including Pearle Vision, Sears Optical, Target Optical and JCPenney Optical.
